White Squirrel and Red Cardinal

Native American lore considers the Red Cardinal as a symbol of monogamy, romance and song. The males and females sing duets to each other. The number 12 is also associated with the cardinal as they are seen during all 12 months of the year. If you encounter one expect good luck to follow in 12 hours, 12 days, or at noon or midnight.

Legend has it that fairies adore squirrels. It is said that they ride on their backs racing though the forest. A sighting can be a reminder to be playful, seek magic, spread happiness and to save a cache of nuts for a rainy day. The White Squirrel blends with the snow in the Ozarks, good camouflage for foraging to replenish their winter storage.

We sighted both of these extraordinary creatures of myth and lore at Beaver Lake Haven this winter. Come and store up your own magic, romance, happiness and good fortune for the new year.

May light and love shine on you and your families.
